Interesting idea worthy of consideration for A/CAM

Postby tor lives » Sun May 01, 2016 12:02 pm

I see on another model site the idea of auctioning/raffling kits to subsides the cost of running the site has been suggested. I actually think these concepts have some merit, and as I have been racking my brain to come up with ways to keep A/CAM funded and functioning I would like the A/CAM membership views on this. Given the fact that this site costs about $100.00 a month to run, plus additional expenses such as $200.00 to sponsor "our" two categories at Model Expo etc., I need to consider all options to enable A/CAM to keep paying the bills.....your thoughts???

I like that idea Ray and I think it could work. As I've said in the past I'm more than willing to help out $$$ wise. Especially if my PNG becomes permanent :)

Here's an idea - QANTAS has its "Club" membership, how about A/CAM? There are a few 'hard core" supporters here who are more than willing to chip in to help cover running costs.
You could introduce a Bronze, Silver & Gold level memberships - not sure what "benefits" could be offered - maybe something like caps, mugs, t-shirts or other merch could be offered or made for sale, or just a burger & chips at Expo - membership has its benefits! :D Other corporate sponsorship can be considered. There's a multi-national instrumentation and control company I know that want's to add some extra "visibility" at this site :D

I like the raffle and competition idea as well. Not sure whether special permits are required??? I'm more than happy to offer the odd model as a prize for any raffles/comp's. Perhaps we all can look at our stashes for those kits we know we've either doubled/tripled or gone just completely mental buying shitloads of that could be offered up? We can do some brain-storming at Expo over a tasty snack and coffee huh. How about planning a A/CAM get-together?

This is a very unique modelling site that does fill a niche - we must make A/CAM stronger!

I'm willing to chuck a few peso's in. Maybe have our user name changed to a different colour. You have green for the grand lord overseers of the site, how about red for those who help out with the financials. :?:

A membership and raffle sounds good I would be in for that... I personally want to see this forum stay simply because... well there's not much out there for the airliner category... and I would love to see airliners and subsequently kits make a return to prominence in the model industry (as opposed to die cast, because I personally think people are getting ripped off with diecast and even the resin models now too)... but yeah this place has been a great learning tool for me as well and also an inspiration to go above and beyond how I used to build an airliner kit. I would love to see more young people join and become airliner kit builders rather than just buying diecast or desktop display models ( Its downright lazy and I have been guilty of it LOL Still love a good diecast though) I started a facebook page a while ago so I could try and generate some interest in the Genre again with the younger people in separation to my Die cast and desktop display model page.

Cheers
