My other Boeing airliners

Postby F-27pax » Sun Apr 03, 2016 10:50 am

Having more or less finished off the common Boeing airliners in my Treasure it's time to move on to the less common, things like 200s, 247s, 314s and 717s. (I have a few 707s planned, but they can wait.) Here's an odd one to start with, a converted Boeing B-17G that was converted to civil use for TWA. Boeing gave it the Model number 299AB. The kit is the not terribly impressive Minicraft B-17G with all the turrets removed and Draw Decals decals.

Must say an impressive build, have to think the fuselage looks a bit portly, like me.

Is there a conversion in 1/144 for the 307?

Yes, the Minicraft B-17 doesn't look quite right to me, I think it's got something to do with the nose, which looks even worse without the chin turret. If I'd known this model was going to turn out looking so nice I might have gone to a little more trouble. On the other hand, knowing me, probably not.

Believe it or not there are two resin Boeing 307s available, a F-Rsin 307 in an Aeromarine scheme and an Anigrand C-75 (which is the military version) with USAAC decals. I'll probably do both of them in the coming year or so, right here.

Here's the next offering in my series of misc Boeing airliners. This one is a PAS Models resin kit which has its good and bad points. Among the bad points is that the wings and tail are so thin that they warp very easily, even after the hot water treatment and that the rear tail doesn't look quite right. On the other hand, it is a nice kit that goes together very nicely. Decals by Hawkeye, of course.
