Seriously mate you gotta stop typing those bloody novels cos I don't have the attention span or the effort to read all that. Cos you LOVE facts so much here 1 for you. Number of F-105's built = 833. Number of F-4's built = 5195. Number of countries that used the F-105 = 1. Number of countries that used and are STILL using the F-4 = 12. Yeah you keep thinking the F-105 was better old boy

Geez, if all it takes is a few numbers...
No of Cessna 172's built = ~43,000 and counting
No of countries using them = I've lost count, but it's more than 12
Pretending to do it TAC style with the big boys since 1987

wow....so the 172 is better than the phantom............seems legit to me

HRT if it's number's...........then the BF 109 is the greatest fighter of all time's.....33000 built......served with 15 countries from 1939 till the late 60's

the spitfire 22000 built...from 1938 till 1948.......served with 36 nations

P40.....13738.\ built..used by 17 nations

and even the humble A6M zero.....10449 built...served with 4 nations.....

BOTH the F$ and F105 were great aircraft...but they served very different roles....like the F111 the F105 isnt a true fighter....it's a bomb truck... the F4 (not the skyray it's to pretty)is the real start of the modern multirole fighter...if it's number's almost all the ww11 fighter's were built in greater number's...but as my dad says,i doubt we'll ever see another 5000 of one type built again..and if nothing else that make the Phantom great.

What, because it doesn't blow shit up, it's not? You tell me 10 reasons why the Phantom is better and I'll give you 10 reasons why the 172 is better :)

Dude, you've tasked a tactical nuke strike on yourself with that statement!

OK, by your logic then the MiG-21 is over 2 times better than the F-4?

Ah, more F-4s than F-105s were lost over Vietnam as well -

And what about your beloved A-10 then (I have a soft spot for it as well!) - 1 user, 716 built - hmmm, similar to the F-105 and from the same company! :D So only having a single user and low production numbers makes a aircraft crap? What does that then make the F-22 and the B-2? :D

I did mention in my previous post that these are quite different aircraft with different roles. F-4 is inferior doing interdiction versus the F-105 (prior to LGBs arriving in 1972). F-105 cannot dogfight very well at all, but it more than held it's own over Nth Vietnam being credited with slightly more A-A kills than losses. And you talk about me being one eyed over the F-35! Different aircraft with different primary roles - both legends!

Mmmmmm duly noted :? . Does anyone actually now give a shit weather I am still having difficulty signing in from my home computer......or is the number of F-4s Vs Cessna 172s built now the predominant issue of thread?? :D ....Sorry for thread drifting from the thread drift

Of course we care TOR! Still, it is a compelling argument from Damo is it not! :D

Indeed it is.....I am a man who deals in black and white facts and figures and there is certainly no disputing Damo's comparative numbers argument. And Damo, I dare say at least some of those Cessna operators have in actual fact used their aircraft to "blow shit up". Think those little "brush wars" that constantly occur in Central America, Central Africa etc.
