Gday all hope you are all well

An update on the DC-9 and some trouble i ran into was she was lob sided (one wing higher than the other) ok no big deal i will just adjust the landing gear that went well now the wings are nice and level but now the vertical stab and fuselage was on a lean when viewed from the front then i realised the wing body fairing was higher on one side by about 1mm i only noticed this when masking the fairing :( i'm sure most other fly DC9 kits are ok but mine looks to have got stuck in the mould as it has heavy rub marks around the WBF especially underneath does anyone else with this kit have the heavy rubbing marks under the WBF ?
Anyway while i was thinking of a way to fix this i found an easy solution and that is to order one of Kurt's awesome DC-9-30 kits so that will be here in 2 to 3 weeks time then i will finish this thread with that great kit.

Cheers

Lee....

To be honest Lee I don\'t think the 'lean' is that bad, you should de-mod (unadjust) the undercarriage and just finish it. :D

Oh I'm hearing you Lee on this issue! I battled my 1/48 Yak-52 with alignment wing/fuselage issues. The wings had a bow in them (resin) which no amount of hot water correcting could fix. The wings are pretty stubby and the resin very hard and brittle making fixing this warp impossible. So, I had to make corrections to the fuselage to compensate. These wings have zero dihedral but the shape of the wing made this look like anhedral once fitted - ARRGGHH! I eventually had to split the bottom of the fuselage and insert a wedge to get the right look - goddamn Russkie resin model!!!!

Yeah it's not bad in the photos but it's there and it bothers me ( Enough to have ordered the AA DC-9 anyway ) ;)

G'day Graeme i will stick with my original plans for the Ansett "Delta" livery but i have Kurt's 3D window decals so i will have to mask up and spray the red and black stripe down the side of the fuselage before i can apply the window decals.

I love the fact that you are so near to finishing the FLY one and the AA one arrives and drop the FLY one to get stuck into the AA one, man after my own heart.

how does the AA one compare lengthwise to the FLY and Airfix ones?, just curious to know how decals would go.
