Lemme know if you want this "little" Bull as it's surplus to requirements.

Yeah Adam, just found one on Evilbay....it is 1:72. Thanks for the offer of the X-15 mate, but I wanna see if I can get this combo on Ebay first.

The B-52/X-15 combo was reissued late last year as I recall. There was one sitting in the LHS for quite some time. Still might be there now.

Just to add, the Bull in this kit is the X-15A-2, the "speedy" one that was modified after the crash of 66671 to include a 28" fuselage plug plus extra fuel tanks for longer endurance to really push the hypersonic envelope. The high vis white/dayglow orange paint on the externals is for the separation tests. During the actual runs using these tanks, the entire X-15 (except the externals) was given a coat of special ablative paint to help cope with the extreme thermal stress on the aeroplane. That thing under the lower dorsal is a dummy scram jet. During the run, hypersonic shockwaves created by this impinged on the tail and fuselage causing a lot of damage and a small fire.

Here's an article on Jack McKay's X-15 crash, which lead to the X-15A-2. Jack McKay never truly recovered from his back injuries from this crash.

Here's a good article describing the final runs the X-15A-2 did.

Go Hotdog go!

You must get that BUFF/Bull combo!

And so the deal is done  . One 1:72 Monogram B-52B with X-15 hanging off it heading to my steadily-growing NASA stash.
Now time to shop for some Buff bling :D

You don’t concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done- Chuck Yeager.

That's magnificent Tony. Details???
Does the kit come with the modified trailing edge flap to accommodate the X-15 tail, or did you have to cut it out yourself ?

Ray S, your NASA Group Build logo is kick ass! Can't wait to start my contribution to this theme next year.

Yep.....you ain't kidding!!!. I also want to build a 1:72 NASA KC-135A (Vomit Comet), and B-52H, (although I don't know where I am gonna put the bloody things if/when they are done :? ).
I am also assuming that I am going to live to 150 to get all these models done.

So I just bought an AMT 1:72 B-52H off Chris over on AMI, (thanks Chris for the great price, much appreciated mate).
She is going to be this:

Geez.....this NASA thing is getting out of control :? . Apart from all the other models, that's two B-52s and a KC-135 in 1:72
TOR
PS: Thanks to Ray S. and "cessnaboy" over on AMI for pointing me in the right direction for this kit.....apparently I owe them both "middle man" fees :D
