Amodel Beechcraft B1900 C & D review coming soon

Hi All,
I have recently obtain a Beechcraft 1900 C & D and have only looked over them briefly. They look good at face valve. but i will provide a better review againts the RVHP 1900 C which i have stored away.

But one thing that caught my on the J31 box cover was that A models showed a LearFan 2100 in 1/72, but haven't seen it on the Hannants website or any other model website.

Mmm. That sounds interesting scoops. I'll watch for that one. Now, who's going to do the cheeky sulphur crested white cocky decals of Impulse Airlines for it. As Impulse was based in Newcastle they looked around for a bird that was very plentiful around town and one that was a bit cheeky as well. These large cockatoos are very plentiful around the John Hunter/Rankin Park Hospital campus. They get fed at Rankin Park every afternoon at 4:00 pm and are very noisey and gregarious, even sitting on the feeders' arms. They also provide a bit of fun and enjoyment for the mostly elderly patients recovering from falls, joint replacements etc. Hospitals are mostly quiet places with patients complaining if things get too noisey (eg Emergency Departments when ice heads are brought in in the middle of the night) but the patients at Rankin Park seem to enjoy the raucous cockies feeding outside. I guess it breaks the boredom of not being able to get out and about while they're in hospital.

Speaking of cheeky, I remember when Qantas bought-out Impulse, (which of course became the foundation vehicle for Jetstar)....all the then Qantas CEO Jeff Dixon had to say was "we just bought Impulse, not so cocky now are they". A little insensitive perhaps, but a clever play on words.

I remember reading about that Ray. It was a good play on words and perhaps not so far wrong. The CEO of Impulse I didn't like, but the liveries of the airline I thought were brilliant. The cocky livery was something very different at a time when pretty well all the other airlines were pretty staid in their outlooks, both here and overseas.

Hi all,
sorry for the late post in regards to my review of the new Amodels Beechcraft 1900 C & D and the RVHP Beechcraft 1900 C with I have obtain in my ever grown stock pile of models.

Disclaimer: I haven’t built any of them due work requirements.

The Amodels Beechcraft in both kits are well constructed and the instruction are really good and well through-out in the layout and in detail in the similar way to the big boy revel and Hasegawa. Below is a number of pictures which shows all the parts (including brass parts which are mainly all vents). The disappointment in my view is how the upper section of the main wing sit into the lower main wing where the flaps meet the upper section.

I like how you can build the engine’s separately for the wing which can allow you to put more details such as brakes lines within the wheel well.

The RVHP Beechcraft kits which is mainly resin and has metal landing is also a good kit but I have found that isn’t a good kit for begins how have only built plastic kits.
After building a number of King Air 200 and 300 from RVHP the detail is good, but the cockpit clear vac-form part can be a bit of a challenge where you have to continually rechecking each time you trim a small section off the vac-form part. It good that they provide two cockpit section.

Overall it is a good kit to build and you will need patient and a good face mask when sanding / removing the excess resin from the all parts. This fine resin dust can cause breathing problems and you will be covered in resin dust. The use of wet sandpaper can limited the dust exposure.
I would also recommend that you use a good fine perm marker pen to mark around fuselage the model so you don’t over sand down the model. I have done that on a King air 200 fuselage, but was able to correct the problem with additional superglue and resin dust and small off-cut of resin chips to fill the gap.


Overall I have found the Amodels would be a good kit for any modeller and the RVHP is also a good resin model. But I would recommend that the modeller would need to get a bottle of de bonding glue as to get the front of the engines in-line with the engine wing mountings can be a trying time for anyone. I did build some templates to in-line the two parts and also be ready to step away the model and have a coffee or tea.

I have also picked up the following Amodels:
BAe Jetstream 32
Beechcraft 2000
Piaggio P.180 Avanti
LearJet 55 - minor issue is that the tail has one pin that is supporting the connection of the tail to the fuselage.( this will the same with the LJ65XR)
Learjet 65XR
Lear Fan 2100

Like you, Scoops, I've been buying up on the new Amodel civil aircraft. I also have a few of the RVHP kits. In general I think I prefer the resin kits which seem to be not quite so clunky looking at the Amodel kits. Having just completed the Amodel Avanti I'd say that it the level of difficulty was about the same as the RVHP Beech 1900C I made a year or two ago, but it people don't have much experience with resin the Amodel kit is probably the safer bed.

The decals are from our New Zealand friends at Oldmodels. I quite like making ZK registered aeroplanes if I can't get something registered VH. Though I do seem to recall seeing a photo of a Vincent 1900C with VH registration too.

I have the Amodel kit of the 1900D which is, to my eye, one of the ugliest aeroplanes ever made. I have a couple of photos of two 1900Ds I saw at Perth Airport the last time I was there that had nothing but registration lettering. That model should be easy to make.
