Hi folks,
Well.....as the Concorde seems to be flavour of the month, with Capt Eric's 1:48 eye-popping beauty taking shape before our very eyes , and my own 1:100 Concorde prototype refurb also coming along, I have realised that I am a bit of an "obsessive compulsive", in that I seem to spend as much time and money on researching and studying a subject as what I do modelling it ....this probably accounts for the "curtain rail of doom" and the ridiculous and unjustifiable size of my aviation library. Case in point:

Reckon I could fly the bloody thing after all this research.

Well I brought back the Concorde kit (1/72 Airfix / Heller) I bought cheap in the UK last year.. (I didn't have the baggage space to bring it back then) Because the box was battered and not very rigid, I repacked the thing in it's own much cut up and resized box, consequently it promoted itself to "build straight away" because of the crapulence of the packaging. So I started it today, my god what a heap of shit this kit is.. I had heard bad reports about it but seriously I have built vacuform kits that were loads better than this. Mine is going to be unmodified on the stand "in the cruise", the kit comes with decals of the last livery flown, would have preferred the original BA scheme but not to worry, sigh! so I am back to sanding my fingers to the bone, post her up when she is done

It's OK Ray - you are among friends here, many of which are as bad or potentially even worse as far as obsessive compulsive spending/hoarding goes.

I believe we have one member here with many F-4 kits, another obsessed over C-172's. Me, I've small library of F-105, Fw-190/Ta-152, Me-262 books. I buy up anything in relation to the air war over Vietnam and late war Luftwaffe in particular. Look the way I look at it I could have blown that money on a golf membership, pissed it up against the wall at the pub, going to the footy, buying a super expensive push bike plus lycra racing outfit (would have been a real bad look in my case! ), or any other middle aged male "cliché" activity . I did have a share in a aeroplane that I do miss badly, but do not miss the annual owning/running costs! So, we've got to spend our money on something - may as well be on stuff we like to do.

Life is too short - so go for it! How bad are we - we've another 1/32 racers heading our way!

Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Has anyone ever been able to put the Airfix Concorde nose section together the way the instructions would have you believe it would? I haven't even tried to get the drooping nose feature incorporated but even doing visor up I have to clip bits of plastic off to get anything to fit!

Postscript... oh crap, the visor has a longitudinal crack split.. a hairsbreadth from splitting in 2... parts request to Airfix................... kit is spare box under the bench Fark.
