OK my bad then, but consider that an outsider like me in this case reads a post and gets completely the wrong idea, it could encourage bad behaviour and rude, non good natured posts from others or put other people off from posting or even visiting the site,

Anyways I'll butt out and mmyob
Cheers wal

Hi Wal,

I forgot to ask, how did you secure the model to the base to pose it in that position? Would be interested to see more pics of your model as that is exactly the pose that I am interested in.

Eric.

It's OK Wal, and my apologies for potentially giving folks the wrong impression. I run a modelling forum too, and am all too aware of the dramas that can ensue from a misconstrued post. I certainly didn't want to give the impression that we're snobby clique either! And really, it was rude of me not to comment on how terrific your model is.

So, my turn to butt out now! Model on, folks.

Wal, you never need to "butt out" mate....you are a long-standing and highly-respected A/CAM member, and your feedback and concern for the site and it's members is always very much appreciated. Always feel free to have your say good Sir.....you have earned that right. Further to that....I don't want you being uncomfortable on this site.
So I take it you are home now???

Eric knows I was just ribbing him. I like to keep him honest so that his head still fits in my car the next time he needs to be picked up from the airport.

I'm with you Kev! Nationally, we've just seen what over-inflated ego's can do! So, it's really in our "duty of care" to ensure Eric's ego doesn't get out of control! At A/CAM, we care for our members!

I'm sure Eric knows all this is just a bit of light hearted banter - yes, some of it at his expense! As he admits, the big fella can dish it out too!

I certainly admit I can get a little over-excited by such projects - that's the 12 y.o modeller still inside of me. Anyone who has a decent stash of models (I'm guessing the bulk of us) still very much has that 12 y.o inside - ADMIT IT! You know that kid from so long ago whose jaw dropped the first time he saw something like a 1/24 Airfix Hurricane kit at the local hobby shop! We're middle aged plastic scale modellers - honestly how serious can anything be taken here! The only thing that matters is that we keep this passion alive, keep buying lots of kits and build the odd one or two, or in Eric's case a dozen a year!

BTW, I also admit that when outside and a aeroplane passes over, I look up - even if in deep conversation with someone - can't help it.

@Eric - well, has your huge model landed yet? I pick up my "little" A-10C today. Absolutely no idea when I intend to start it though. It must be 5-6 projects down the list, so that's 5-6 years off!

Cheers

Hi Eric,
Ya know you had me thinking for a while there.. I just could not remember how I did it! I am still in the UK so I can't have a look under the model BUT as soon as I thought "Under the Model" I remembered.

There are 3 narrow diameter metal tubes or rods (forget which) rising from the base. Two of the rods go up into the main wheel wells right up to the roof of the wells, the third (shorter) rod rises
up to the rear under fuselage (with a bit of padding so fuselage paint doesnt get scratched). The rear rod sets the attitude of the model though a bit of fiddling is required to adjust the length of all rods to get the right pose. The rods are glued to the base but the model just sits on the rods.

Well folks, its here!

At 128cm long, I thought it prudent to install another work bench in my Mancave... In fact, its our old dinner table.
