1/48 RAF F-86 Sabre

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

1/48 RAF F-86 Sabre

Postby hrtpaul » Sat Sep 05, 2015 10:00 pm

Hi peeps. My Dad built an F-86 in RAF colours many years ago. I still have it and have been gonna refurb it and give it back to him one day. Anyways he has been a little crook of late so I decided to pull my finger out and do it. The first problem was I'd put all the busted bits in a bag somewhere safe. And you guessed it I couldn't find said bag. So I decided to use an Academy F-86 instead. The fit so far is ok but not great. I will be mounting it inflight on a pole so I had to drill a hole for said pole. Cue the power tools 8-) 8-) 8-) I also had to fit a pilot which I wasn't too fussed with. He came up ok I guess and fits in the cockpit pretty well. Oh and guess what? I found the missing bits    Anyways it's progressing well :)

This is what it'll look like hopefully

Sabre is coming along great mate!!!. After your last couple of builds you will never be able to call yourself a "lazy modeller" again :D . You are leaving some of us for dead.

PS: what is your dad's interest with this particular colour scheme???

It's just the scheme that came with the Esci kit way back when :)

You've got as many on the go as I have and yet I'm not seeing many done. Get on with it

Been in PNG for a week and had a lot of other shit on the go but it's getting there. Got the PRU blue painted on the bottom the Monday and a coat of One Go last night. Hopefully I can start the camo tonight. This pic is just after I finished painting the bottom :)

Just thinking about it and I might leave the One Go to dry an extra day. Even though I'm trying to get this done yesterday I can't afford to screw it up. Might just slow up a bit me thinks :|
