DesTROYers two Kinetic 1/48 Mirage IIIO's

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

Thanks Ray. It was almost going to be just white, until I read in the Mirage bible that many times when the live Matras were loaded to be fired, they were painted this way, even on non ARDU birds, as it was often filmed and it made it easier to study in flight. As soon as I read that, the choice was made to do it that way on an ARDU bird too.

As a tribute to your lovely model Troy, here is a photo I took of "2" when she was on display at the 1988 Bicentennial Air Show at RAAF Base Richmond. This would be one of the last public appearances of the classic RAAF Mirage.

Hi Ray. That's true; the last official RAAF Miracle flight was in February 1989, then those that were left airworthy were flown to Woomera for long term storage and then of course 50 of them went to the Pakistan Air Force.

Regards,
RHB.

Great picture Ray.

More work done last night and today. Really looking the part now.

I also changed the missile rails on AS-45 to suit the time period, too. Thats all I had time for today however, as this arrived and I had to assemble it.

I'll seal the decals on both tomorrow and add a wash on Sunday.

Not one of my better models. Trouble with the white coat meant the paint is on too thick and the attachment for the Pitot tube could be much better, but I am happy enough with it to call it done.

Nice Troy.....she turned out beautifully, and will really compliment the rest of your RAAF collection.

I'd be happy with that Troy, very nice model in my eyes.
That cabinet and the display of models look absolutely great.

Well done Troy! Looks amazing! It's really refreshing to see a model posed in-flight too - just adds some life to the model.

Bravo!
