Just Your Average CDN Sunday Airport BBQ

Postby Barneydhc82 » Wed Aug 26, 2015 10:08 am

A few pics from our BBQ on Sunday with a few visitors. Three Harvards, two Stearmans, six Navions, a Taylorcraft L-type and a whole lot of friends. What a day!

A bit of history: The Harvard to the left of the 450 hp Stearman in photo #2 is actually a MkII with a Mkiv canopy. But the best part; Trevor was giving free rides in it and one of his passengers was "Doc" Paine, ex-RCAF, and he flew that particular Harvard in 1942 as part of the BCATP. Doc put on quite a show and at 94 years of age is still a licenced pilot.

That is the perfect Sunday arvo BBQ as far as I am concerned. A lovely late summer, sunny afternoon surrounded by beautiful aeroplanes and good friends. Doesn't get any better than that. And is that a Tracker fire bomber I see in the background of the 2nd last photo.....it's all good!!!!!.
Thanks for posting Barney.

Did the moose enjoy it? I think that's actually illegal.

Good eyes! Yes it is one of Conair's old CS2F Trackers that was donated to our little museum.

And here is a pic of a friend's WACO RNF with my bride riding in the front seat. A birthday present
