Time to share some news

Postby tor lives » Sat Aug 01, 2015 8:15 pm

Hi guys,
Time to share some news with you all.
After 23 years I will shortly be leaving Qantas, with my last day with the airline being the 29th August 2015. I have taken the position of General Manager of a newly-established aviation training company called Dynamic Crew Training Pty Ltd based here in Melbourne. I would like to publicly thank Qantas for what has been a wonderful and exciting 23 year career, (where did the time go???)....it has been and incredible journey. I will always consider myself fortunate and privileged to have worn the Qantas uniform, and to have been part of the Qantas family and story for such an extended period of time. As Qantas heads towards it's centenary, I wish all it's staff and customers, and indeed the Qantas Group as a whole nothing but success and continued good fortune.....thanks for everything QF!!!.
Now it's onwards and upwards.

Congratulations

I assume this will be a mostly 9-5 job, so therefore lots of spare time to get the curtain rail of doom moving again :D

The downside of course is you didn't make it to the 25 year mark, very significant for travel

Hi guys,
Thanks so much for all your supportive and kind words.
Yeah....the new job is essentially a Monday-Friday 9-5 proposition. No more 0430 starts, (or finishes), and finally my nights will be for sleeping, and weekends/public holidays will mean something. No more having to deal with broken jets, broken baggage belts, broken de-icing trucks, fog, thunderstorms, terminal evacuations, security breaches, broken aerobridges, medical emergencies, angry pax, 12 hour +shifts, etc, etc, etc.
Graeme, as to staff travel benefits..... I hear what ya sayin, but I still will have them for the next 23 years, (just not with the high priority on-load that I have now).
And yes......I may finally be able to start clearing the "curtain rail of doom".......sitting down and doing a bit of modelling  , now that will be a novelty.

Terrific news mate! How exciting for you. We're all proud of ya - sounds such a terrific job. Like my mother used to say to me - "Take big bites of life and chew like mad!".

Another major bonus is we will get to see some finished models from you!

Happy (simulated) landings!

Cheers

Congratulations Ray, I'm sure you'll be missed by your old firm.

Look on the positive side, at least you'll have a far better chance of lowering your blood pressure now, as well as knocking a hole in the curtain rail of doom.
Best wishes in your new work place.
Cheers,
Wayne
