Thanks for all the kind words guys. Unfortunately my modelling days are over due to severe arthritis in the hands and damaged eyes as a result of the medication that I was prescribed for the hands. I've had a great 70+ years of building cars, ships (carved of course), R/C power and gliders and plastic..tons of plastic.!

The Grumman sits in my hangar and hasn't flown in a year so it will have to go soon. As we all will! I've had a great run with no regrets; 62 years of flying 89 different types of powered and a bunch of gliders. The oldest was a replica DH53 Hummingbird..also the slowest, to the CF-104D..the fastest at 1.83 Mach.

And while playing with aircraft of all scales, I spent a terrific career in Air Traffic Control- Almost 50 years.

I've had a great deal of fun to say the least

OK Barney, ya done it now!

Please tell all about your CF-104 flight - please! I'll be building a F-104N (Joe Walker's last ride) sometime later this year. I'm a big fan of Century Series jets. Now, you also need to chat with "VH-WAL". Wally is ex-ATC, originally with the RAAF then civvie I believe. Wally it appears is over in the "Mother Country" and has sent back brilliant pic's from Duxford. Check out some of Wally's builds here - amazing stuff!

I'm sorry to hear about the arthritis. Your models are excellent. Sorry to also hear you may have to let go of your aeroplane. I can relate to this having parted with my share in a Stephens Akro Laser over a year ago now. With a young family to raise and a toxic syndicate (one person who shall remain nameless ), it all just got too hard. It was the right thing to do, but still hurts. Hopefully I will get back into flying either a Pitts or a Laser sometime again in the future. A mate of mine has a share in another Laser down here.

I for one would love to read any stories you have from aviation adventures you've had plus look at any photos 1:1 scale or smaller. I'm sure I am not alone in this.

I'm with TOR (Ray) Barney - hijack away! So far, what you've posted is pretty darn impressive sir!

I'm in two minds whether or not to build the Airshow Models Extra 300L as it's so rare. I do have a 1/32 Extra 330 SC to build first from a Romanian manufacturer - amazing kit which even features some 3D printed parts (interior fuselage framing).

Adam: Here is Bud Granley's Harvard IV used in his airshow routine. He does a dirty snap roll immediately after take-off among other things
And this is a 1:48 scale Monogram kit modified with the proper Canadian rear canopy

That is glorious work there Barney! You make my day with each of these posts sir! Did you have to re-scribe/re-rivet that kit?

Dirty snap roll on t/o - did this ever end in tears? Big heavy aeroplane like a Harvard doing a dirty snap roll which would be a low speed to start with, very high drag with gear down and then a hugely energy depleting manoeuvre like a snap roll on top of this - AMAZING! That is one of those zero margin for error "stunts". Wonder if he snapped with or against the engine (with fast roll rate, but harder to stop - against obviously slower roll rate but easier to stop)?

Keep these posts up Barney and you will get my vote as best A/CAM'er of the month! Hope life is all good over your neck of the woods.
