Agreed! Is yours the Special Hobby 1/48 kit? I'm doing mine flaps down.

Looks like we may be having a racer group build!

Yeah it's the Special Hobby 1. I didn't think you could do it with flaps down :? :? :?

You can't OOB. Major surgery required. As a example of how bad I am, I've bought a Tamiya F4U-1 kit to rob it of it's flaps - yep, I'm that bad! See how I go, but I'm used to doing major surgery on kits. Why do I do this? No idea - some kind of mental issue I have for sure!
Main reason I'm doing this is that so many photos of this aeroplane show the flaps down on the ground (normally piss-poor airmanship to do this of course, as they can be damaged taxiing meaning a LAME like you gets mad! ) I'm scared of LAME's, as they often charge shit loads of money to fix stuff I've broken!

I'm no expert on Corsairs, but there appears to be a slot on the inner RHS flap for boarding, so flaps down on the ground to assist in that big climb up to the cockpit.

I think I'll start a couple of threads for RB-51 and F2G pic's, so we can all post and share info we find on these amazing aeroplanes - what do you reckon?

I think you'll find that the flaps will drop after shutdown once hyd pressure bleeds off just like a P-51. The other thing could be that the pilot drops them after they've parked so they can get in and out of the plane like you suggested. I CBF'd going to that extent with the flaps but then again I'm a lazy prick. I like the idea of specific aircraft threads for pics etc. I've downloaded a heap of the Corsair today :)

You don’t concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done- Chuck Yeager.
