Finally after three coats of Mr Surfacer 500 and three sandings we can now move on to painting this thing. I've had a hard time trying to figure out what colour to paint the wings/engine nacelles. I was tossing up between grey & white. As can be seen by the picture, the nacelles are not as white as the white fern markings. It doesn't look grey either. After chatting to the bloke at the local hobby shop, he suggested using Gunze "off white". Sounds like a perfect colour.

Once a few coats of off white had dried it was time for masking. Here she is all masked up.

In the kit, there is a very clever idea on how to put on the passenger window masks. They provide a piece of sticky tape. You use this tape by placing over the mask whilst it is still on the backing sheet. Pulling the tape pulls the mask off the sheet. You then carefully lign up where you want the mask to go, rub down and then peel the tape off, leaving the mask in place. Saves having to handle the mask where it could lose it's tack. It's also easier to line up.
Late last night I sprayed a few coats of black. Once dried I was about to remove all the masks in excitement to see how I went! Then I remembered I have to do the silver outline for the pilot windows. So I will do that tonight and then we can remove masks.
