Boeing 727-22QC RNZAF

Since it is a bit quiet here I thought I would post my current civil related builds.

I wanted to build a 727-100 and had a few options
Image

I ended up going with the Airfix -200 with -100 OzMods conversion to build a -22QC . I have decals for a New Zealand Air Force aircraft from Old Models Decal in NZ.

I started with the wings by removing the lump that is supposed to be a wing fence on the trailing edge of the wing and adding a new fence from card in the correct position on the leading edge. there was some rescribing as well.

The OzMods parts were assembled and filled. The rear entry door opening was blanked with card as the kit door was too wide

The wings and tail cone were then attached to the fuselage
Image

I found some old after market engines in the stash and decided to use them. The stub wings were a bit damaged so I tried to tidy them up a bit before installing. The gear legs were also attached

The fuselage the engines were primed

And some seam issues were sorted

It now stands with a base coat of FS16440 and ready to be masked for the other colours

This one has moved on to a lot, painting mostly done, wheels and one engine to go as the paint lifted on it when the masking was coming off.

Decals are now going on, they have been interesting to work with, quite thick and did not like conforming so in some cases I need to use thin cement on them! The pax doors on the sheet had to be replaced as the ones included looked 1/72 scale in size! Window lines were also replaced with Avigraphics items.

And it is done. The decals were a pain but I am glad to get it over the line
