Yesterday was all about the 737, today I dedicated my time towards cleaning and painting up the Black Cat. After sanding back some areas that needed attention, I sprayed the wings and fuselage with a coat of Nato Black. I did this because I wanted to show a difference in colour/fading between the painted metal areas and the material covered control surfaces.
Once done and dried, I masked up the control surfaces and hit the whole thing again with Flat Black. Really starting to look good here.
Then it was finally time to attach the wings.
Then I mixed up a brew of Flat White and Red Brown and heavily diluted it with thinner and lightly misted over all the surfaces that would be faded by the sun, and less thinned ran the brush in heavier lines from the exhaust pipes down the wings.
I have to treat the undersides next. All those water landings caused a lot of wear on the paint and the glint of aluminium was apparent through the paint. Usually I would dry brush it on the edges and on the lagging eyes of the panels, which I'll do this time too, but I think I'll also dust some heavily diluted spray on the under sides as well, so its not just on the edges. What do you lot think?
