So I decided to try something before taking the drastic step of stripping the paint off and starting over....
I masked the red *very* carefully, and sprayed some very thin off-white at very low pressure - much betterer! (although still not quite perfect...but what are ya gonna do!)

I damn well hate that. How can such a small plane have such deep panel lines?
Bad luck mate. I'm sure you'll get it right.

The first repair of the stripes was a bit of an experiment, but I'd managed to get the paint just the right consistency by eyeballing it....of course, I only mixed enough paint for one set. So when I did the others, it was way too thin, and despite my careful masking, it managed to get under the tape and also pooled in spots. So into the laundry (after carefully masking the cockpit with blu-tac....it's the only way to seal everything off), on with the BBQ cleaner, and off with the paint. Which is kind of a blessing in disguise, I suppose - the original paint job had a few orange-peely spots that I wasn't going to worry too much about, but now I have a chance to do it better. Or worse..

Keep with it mate.....what doesn't kill us in this hobby will only make us stronger. No doubt it will turn out to be a stunning model when completed, then all this frustration will be an ancient memory.

...and the hits just keep on coming. Major undercarriage collapse while undergoing a respray. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but the ATSB will send their tea-lady out to investigate, and no doubt she'll somehow blame the pilot, who was asleep in bed at the time.

I know I really should not comment before the ATSB tea lady does her thing, but I'm blaming those "Made in Chyna" toothpicks and the shoddy way they were used. Move along folks, this is indeed another case of pilot error!
