1/72 Airfix DHC Chipmunk T.10

Continuing on with my De Havilland theme I'll be taking a Airfix 1/72 DHC Chipmunk to TSV with me this weekend. It's a BBMF machine and will be OOB. This is what it'll look like when I'm done hopefully

Yep it'll get seatbelts. Though that's about all that'll be going in there. Need this ready for paint as soon as I get home from TSV

Update time peeps. Spent quite a bit of time removing all the rivets on this thing. Managed to "cut" them off whilst leaving some of the rivet in place. It now looks like it's flush riveted which is a lot better. Not sure how well it'll show up under a coat of primer. I cut out the flaps and positioned them extended which was real easy to do on the Chippy. I also spent a good 4-5 hours masking up the wings, rudder and elevators for the rib tapes. I used Eric's idea he used on his DH88 by masking and using primer for the rib tapes. Hopefully after another coat of primer then painted black the effect will warrant the effort. Not surprisingly, after 4-5 hours masking it took me 15min to paint and unmask everything I've got the wings and fuse together at this stage. Once the wing gets attached to the fuse there'll be a bit of filling to be done but it is a 1969 vintage kit afterall. So that's the state of play so far. Monday will see the wing attached to the fuse and the filling started after I've fitted the seats and seatbelts to the wing. Apart from the seats, there is no cockpit detail whatsoever and I really CBF'd scratch building an interior. Anyways onto the pics

The "Eric" ribbing effect looks great. Isn't it amazing the influence the good Capt Eric is having on us, (he is the reason I have dusted off and gotten back into my 1:100 Concorde build )

Small update tonight peeps. So far I've got the cockpit (2 seats and that's it) in and the wings on. Only 1 problem. I forgot to put the bloody seatbelts in Oh well shit happens. I've also got the horizontal stabs on as well. There's a bit of filling and sanding to be done aroundthe wing but Perfect Plastic Putty and sheet styrene to the rescue. That's currently drying so I'll be able to sand it tomorrow. As the rib detail and cut off rivets are so fine,and Tamiya white primer comes out of the can in such a hurry I'm thinking I might wait to prime it till I get home. That way I can decant some Tamiya white primer and spray it much finer with my airbrush. Another way to go would be not worry about the primer at all. Just spray the white stripes on the wing and the fuse, mask when dry and then hit it with gloss black. Hmmmmm might do it that way me thinks. If I do it that way it won't take me long to finish at home. Considering that, there's not a whole lot left to do. Put the undercarriage on and fit and mask the canopy is about it. Might have to visit Honest Graeme's Model Emporium (yet bloody again) for something else to build. I'm also currently building a 1/72 Hasegawa BOB Hurricane which is the subject of another thread.
