Megastructures Breakdown

Postby Ansett A330 » Thu Nov 03, 2016 9:20 pm

At least one person here might be interested in the "Megastructures Breakdown" episode advertised for tonight (and probably repeated over the next few days):

"The F-4 Phantom has flown in air Force squadrons in the US, Europe, and Asia. The breakdown process takes two and a half months and is fraught with danger."

It is or should I say was a Luftwaffe F-4F by the looks of it.

Thought it might have been a bit dated as the Luftwaffe got rid of their last Phantoms in 2013(?) and the Program made out the parts were being used in Luftwaffe Aircraft still in service.

Bit like the Program they recently showed on the scrapping of the USS Savannah (AOR-4) Oiler. It was scrapped in 2009/10 so maybe this was made around the same time.

Yes I think it is much better they turn them into drones, and blow them up

Sort of like a Viking funeral

I thought it was funny that the Controllers don't like to see them shot down at least not on the first couple of runs whereas of course the F-15 Pilot wanted to see it damaged so he could gun it down but in the end the Controller destructed it.
