Oh deer, he never saw it coming....

I use to play cricket with a guy who's dad's job was to shoot roos who got onto the runways at Tullamarine. Not sure if he shot them all or tried to scare them off first, but as you see, animals are stupid. Skip to 1:40 for the money shot at 1:45.

HMMM - I did once hear a story of how a 737 hit a wild donkey at Hamilton Island - not sure how true this is though - anyone?

It wouldn't have done much damage to the Dash 8 really as the brake lines and wiring runs down the rear of the leg. As long as it hadn't hit the prop the biggest thing would be to get all the goo out of the brakes and wheels. It was actually technically still flying at the time of the hit as the oleo hadn't compressed.
