A Postcard from Breighton old home of 460 RAAF Sqn

Breighton now home of the "Real Aeroplane Company" has the RAF and RAAF Ensigns flying at the entrance gate. The Crew room has bits and bobs of memorabilia, this weekend they hosted a 1940s themed event so I took the opportunity to make the 30 minute drive to the aerodrome and see what was on offer.. not much I am afraid but it was ok I guess.

Luckily there are no plastic kits of the Broussard or the Jungmann, so no temptation to buy more kits!

Whats the story with the plane in the last picture? The Olympic rings and Swastika makes my think Berlin Olympics 1936? I can't imagine the Olympic committee allowing the rings to be used for any other purpose with the Swastika involved, other than for historic purposes.

good question, the Duxford Bucker is similarly finished, though instead of the swastika features a 1933 - 35 National flag (red White black), I'll have to google it up

there was an international aerobatic competition in conjunction with the 1936 Olympics(ironically gliding was an Olympic sport that year)

the 1/72 and 1/32 are resin which I try to avoid

OMG! I want that yellow & black Jungmann! Great pic's Wally as usual. My second cousin spent time at that airfield back in the day and would have moved across to Binbrook shortly before his death. Flt Sgt Beresford Milton Troy Davis was his name and he was killed on the night of 23/24th May, 1943. I must make the pilgrimage to both Breighton & Binbrook one day. I have visited his grave in Holland.

Funny I reckon it's an ugly bloody thing. The Real Aeroplane Company must have had 44 Gallon Drums of yellow paint available, a Jungmeister, Jungmann, Ryan and the Magister covered in the stuff, quite boring schemes really
