Who needs undercarriage anyhow?

Pretending to do it TAC style with the big boys since 1987
Also, we don't need no steenkin' VLATs!

RAAF did that with a Phantom, just buggered the drop tanks that's all

sure did, as they climbed upwind pilot reached down to pull up the gear handle...it was already up.. he asked the backseater..did we just land wheels up? I don't recall his reply. The Pilot was a Sqn Ldr flight commander at 2FTS when I was at Pearce a couple of years after that event, I remember him telling the story at the bar one dining in night

A Mirage managed it at Tullamarine though it had no tanks and did not take off again. Apparently the pilot Cat 5'd the airframe and it never flew again.

That's amazing! How were the props not buggered I wonder? Wonder also what the engine vibration was like after that?

Minor correction Ray, it did have drop tanks.
