Group Build Intro

Hi all,
In an effort to stimulate some renewed interest and participation in the A/CAM site, I have introduced a new Group Build.
The subject of this Group Build is Boeing 707.
Any Boeing 707, (or variant including Boeing E-3, Boeing E-6, Boeing E-8, Boeing C-18, Boeing C-135, Boeing C-137, Boeing 720), in any scale, and by any manufacturer is eligible for inclusion in this Group Build.
The Group Build will officially commence 01 May 2022, (but I have absolutely no problem with anyone starting right now, even with a kit that is already commenced :P ), and conclude 01 May 2024, conclusion date subject to change if required).
The format of participation is simply for the individual to open a post in this forum, and keep the post live and updated as a running "diary of progress" for all to see, until model completion.
So.....let's get into it, and see if we can make this Group Build a success.

Great initiative Ray, time to dig into the stash. Perhaps a C-135, though I have a started E-3A that was started in Canberra and disassembled (very poorly) to fit back in the box for the move.

This was it before the disassembly began

The wings and tailplane were removed and the dome was not glued in place. Here is how it looks now

Possible entry?

FWIW Ray I had a bit of a look around and kit availability seems to be pretty limited at the moment and those that are available OS are very expensive.

This actually leads nicely into something I was going to post...

Yesterday I ordered 4 x Roden 1/144 Boeing 720's. 2 from Frontline Hobbies, and 2 from, believe it or not, Kogan. They are the aircraft that flew Led Zeppelin (there's 2 schemes for two separate aircraft), Elton John, and the Bee Gees. I also found out that one of the Led Zeppelin aircraft also flew Deep Purple so I'm going to have to order another at some stage.
Anyhow, today I received an email from Kogan entitled "A few things to go with your Roden 1/144 Boeing 720 'Caesar's Chariot'". Apparently sheet sets, security systems and outdoor lighting are needed for the kit...

So, Brad, you can pick up the Roden 1/144 Boeing 720 from Fronline for $40 or thereabouts a pop..

I have just had a random look on eBay, and between 1:144, 1:100, and 1:72 Boeing 707/Boeing 720/Boeing E-3/Boeing E-8/Boeing KC-135/Boeing EC-135.....there seems to be plenty of stuff around, and some at reasonable prices.

All I see is diecast, people selling instructions and decals only or US based sellers so shipping is outrageous.

Spotted that, about the only one I could find that is easily available.

Right you lot who are bitching cause ya can't find a Boeing 707 kit local, and for a good price.
If you contact Daryl at Gundams Plus (03 91914491) he has some Minicraft 1:144 kits that might be of interest to you, (eg: E-8 that can easily be made as a standard 707-320).
The prices are very good also, (Daryl has included a discount for A/CAM members).....a Minicraft 1:144 Boeing E-8 (Boeing 707-320) is just $26.00.
So get on to Daryl and tell him Ray sent you.
