Non Military Aircraft Category EXPO 2015

Just wondering on this.. are any of us entering models into this category? It would be a shame for there to be be no or few entries and not justify the creation of the new category. I am not into competition and my builds lack the edge required anyway and also transporting models across the country is a pain.. so amongst us how many models will be entered? If too few I might bring one or two just to make up the numbers but I really don't want to.

If I can get down there* I have at least one I will have for the category.

*Still sorting out logistics, I maybe flying down so entries for comp and ACAM display will be limited unless I can get Peter M to transport stuff for me.

Hi Wal,
Given that the Model Expo Committee established this new category on our request, (and A/CAM will be sponsoring it, along with the Airliner category), I really hope we see lots of entries from A/CAMers.
Here is what I am entering, none of which are competition standard by any means, but it's about the numbers.

Probably about five to ten....but I would love to see more than that given what a big deal we made of getting this category up and running. Rene and Ed have shown a lot of faith in us, now we gotta deliver.

I have a Skymaster in the build queue and an Islander to do in Australian Coastwatch colours.

I want to find a simple Aussie regoed scheme for the Skymaster.

I think I need to read up on the eligibility for the category as I have a couple of civil kits in Military markings such as a Finnish Air Force Piper Cherokee and the venerable Airfix Beagle in RAF markings.

Hi Ray,
When you say Skymaster....are you talking DC-4 Skymaster????, cause if so, VH-PAF, (as currently owned by HARS), is in a very simple scheme.

As to category eligibility for aircraft in military markings....I think it was Rene's intent to avoid that. Military aircraft in civil schemes however are most eligible, (eg: an A-4 in Tracor Flight Systems colours, P-51 in Reno racing colours, or P-3 in Aero Union LAT Fire Bomber colours :D ).

Nice scheme Ray, though I would have to scratch build the pannier underneath.

I will score the stash for other suitable builds for the category.

So what about fire bombers and the like, ex P-3s, Tackers, C-130s? Would they be suitable for the category?

i went looking for the thread about the new category but could not find it.
