@ Wally....C-135 stuff

G'day Wal,
I have been out of the loop a bit lately with a heavy work schedule, but I hear/see you are after references and info on the C-135. Now....to say that the C-135 is a favourite of mine is an understatement, and to that end I have accumulated a bit of a library on the aircraft-type:

I also have a few 1:72 kits of the different C-135 variants sitting around:

So if you need any C-135 info....just yell out and I will see what I can do for you.
BTW, all 1:72 C-135 kits, (be they AMtech, Heller, Italeri etc), all come from the original AMT moulds and therefore suffer from the same problems.
Another thing to remember....you WILL need to reinforce the wing structure or you WILL eventually have wing droop....this kit is renowned for it.

Thanks Ray,

I have beefed up the lower wing join as recommended in"how to beat the dreaded wing droop". I glued the bottom wing section to the fuselage (lots of tabbing / reinforcement there) then attached the top wing surfaces at the wing root (again lots of tabbing and reinforcement) . I dropped the jet to the floor 3 times doing this! whilst trying to align top and bottom and fit at the root, Luckily all the tabbing and reinforcement meant no damage but I do have a cracked concrete floor now (as much from my swearing and cursing as from the impact of the model). At the moment both wings are like the hobo's shoes, with the top and bottom flapping separately only held together at the root. I will put a spar in each wing as I glue them together. When that is done I will cut out the flaps and engineer them down to takeoff flap 30. I haven't found a good pic of flaps 30 taken from just behind the wing yet so that will be a bit of guess work, as far as I can make out in this position the first section of flap is drooped down to 30 degrees but also extended out about 20% so that the slot between it and the next section of flap is open and exposed to the airflow, whilst the second section remains unextended and out of the airflow, if you have pics that can confirm or deny this, that would be great.

cheers and thanks for thinking of me

Hopeful there is some stuff here that is of use.....I will keep looking though.

PS: the flap arrangement on the 135 is exactly the same regardless of variant.

Thanks! I reckon that is flaps 30 on pic 5 (in the maintenance hangar), that will help nicely

cheers

Just the inboard flap Wally @30. I reckon the outboard 1 is having work done on it and is at full flap. Maybe it's had the actuators disconnected or something like that but it's definitely lower than the inboard flap :)

yep I reckon you are right, I was actually looking at the inboards when I made my judgement
