I know these are not plastic model kits but I thought I would share with you some diecast beauties that turned up this week.
This is a 1:200 Boeing 787-838 in a fantasy Qantas retro-scheme. The model is one of only 20 produced by a company called SM 200, who also did a lovely diecast 1:200 Qantas DC-10 WIF in the 70s "Flying Kanagaroo" scheme...once again in very limited numbers.
Not everyone's cuppa tea, but this certainly has a place in my Qantas collection:

Now here is the ideal use of military aircraft, (I am talking to you Paul :D ). This is the limited edition 1:72 Corgi civvie Spitfire G-AISU:

.....and here she is with some other diecast 1:72 ex-military beauties

I have said it before and I will say it again....military aircraft do look much better in civvie schemes :D

Uh-oh.....looks like I'm gonna have to get me some Spitfires..G-AISU wore at least 2 racing schemes in addition to the grey!
You wouldn't happen to know what Mk that Spitty is, would you Ray?
Edit: Check that...it's a Vb..

Diecast aren't really my thing. I do have an Ansett DC-10 but that was given to me by someone who didn't want it and dad has a few cars he bought over the years. The prices on those Franklin Mint things are ridiculous, especially anything RAAF. On ebay recently there was the Mirage and Hornet for 900 bucks each! I could build you an infinitely better model for 500.

While I have all the Franklin Mint RAAF stuff

I must admit that the quality is not that great.....I agree that the prices are outrageous, and I really don't get why.

Flog them on ebay and you'd make a small fortune Ray.

Just bought an Airfix 1/48 Mk Vb to make G-AISU....now to decide whether to do the grey scheme (simples!) or one of the racing schemes...or just buy a few more :)
