Although they were very high quality, there were only 4 entries in the Airliner / Civil Aircraft category.
The viability of categories is assessed on a two or three year average number of entrants. 2023 had 3 entrants, 2024 had 8 entrants so it will probably be okay in 2026 but needs to do better than 4 to survive beyond then.

Right EVERYONE !!!!
Heads Up !!!!
Get your shit together or we will lose this category!!!
You need to read between the lines of what Ed is saying here....if numbers don't improve next year, our category is dead in the water, and we will only have ourselves to blame.
Get your fingers out and START BUILDING!!!
And Damo....you have to start doing something about resurrecting A/CAM displays, sponsoring category's etc.!!!
Let's get back in the game people!!!

Yes.....I have been as slack as everyone else, (except you young Ray). We ALL have to get our shit together, or we will lose this category.
We have been given ample warning.

Takes nothing to throw a table cloth on, some model boxes and a few kits with labels. Just saying....
I also have an AC-47 gunship that's on the build at the moment and that qualifies for Civil Airliners as the category is inclusive of airliner derivatives in military or government use. Don't forget about your non-military builds too, I had my green Mustang on the table.
Also noticed that the helicopter in Non Military Aircraft should have been disqualified as Rotary Wing is excluded from Non Military, which I don't know why but it currently is. I think that should be changed to allow civilian helicopters in it. I mean we all know Helicopters is a separate category cos a few blokes in IPMS have a hard on for them, but they are unlikely to build a civil one.

I think the latest iteration of the rules excludes anything with military markings. There is a discussion on the Faecbook page.
Edit - updated, see later post

A civil helicopter would be eligible for this category or helicopters - there are some nice ones around...... like this
https://www.redroomodels.com/product/br ... n-service/
To quote the Expo handbook that is online currently;
"Airliner Derivatives – May pertain to civil airliners in military or government service."
and for Civil Aircraft;
"Excludes Civil Airliners, Airliner Derivatives and Rotary Wing aircraft."
