Thanks Ray, I will add an airbase thread on the E-3 soon, been madly getting it ready for ScaleACT along with the A400M

The 747 in the background is an Airfix -100 to be finished in either BOAC or British Airways colours

Just a quick post as the Internet connection down here in Columbia is a bit dodgy.

Great Show very well organised and run. Well worth the visit. Definitely better than last year's QMHE.

A pleasure to meet Ray - a real Gentleman, fantastic Modeller, and very knowledgeable. Also very nice to meet everyone else I was introduced to - so many unfortunately Oldtimer's Disease precludes me from remembering everyone.

Given the chance will definitely visit again.

Big Day tomorrow taking in Day 2 as well of course Armistice Day 100 Years and the AWM Service and also if it is open long enough and if there is not a billion people around the AWM itself.

It was great to meet you Rob and see Graeme again, what a colossal effort to drive 1800 km from Townsville to visit out little kneck of the woods and then have to do it all again getting home!

Glad you enjoyed the show Rob, it seems to go from strength to strength. 503 models on display this year, it beat last year's all-time high of 478.

Here are some pictures from the two civil categories.

Well back Home now. Big drive. Haven't added up the proportional kms but Graeme drove most of it.

Just managed to upload some photos.

First lot of photos I took with the iPhone were of the impressive RAF 100 Years Display :

Then moved inside the Gym and managed to take a couple before too much of a crowd :

Ray's NASA C-135 looked really good :

This Model Factory Hiro 1:12 Lotus 98T must have cost a fortune but really looked the part :

Image

Back out on the RAF 100 Years and couldn't resist taking a photo of this lovely little Miles Kestrel :

Then someone yelled out the Swap and Sell was open so it was off to have a look there. Relevant photos posted on the "Just Bought" Thread.

On the morning of Day 2 being the 100th 11th of the 11th we headed over to the AWM.

Bit tired of Speeches by Pollies so headed around the side while they were talking and the first thing to note was one of the 8 inch guns from HMAS Australia (II) :

Image

Would have taken some more photos of things like the Amiens gun and other Artillery pieces up the side but too many foreign Tourists in the way so we headed back to the Entrance before the Speeches were finished :

About an Hour and a half later we finally got inside :

and went looking for the Names of some Great Uncles who didn't make it back Home.

One in WWI :

and one in WWII :

Then it was off to have a quick look at some of the Dieplays :

and then the "Field of Poppies" on the way back to the car to head back to ScaleACT 2018 (or what was left of it) :

All in all a very moving Day.

Here is an album from phone pictures, not every model but the ones that I took interest in.

Sorry, no cars or motorbikes, they don't float my boat.

502 models entered with over 100 in the RAF 100 display and most likely approaching 100 in the Centenary of WWI and Israeli Defence Force displays.

Oh and a bonus, the Remembrance day eve lighting display at the AWM. For the time this year, they were projecting images onto a tree near the entrance in addition to the usual images on the front walls of the AWM, very effective. Also, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was open for a vigil until 10pm.
