A rather productive 12 months of modelling
With all this talk about expo and how quickly it is approaching, I have looked back at what I have finished in the last 12 months and realized that it has been very productive. I learnt alot and managed to squeeze some finished builds out. I finished the Hawk a week or so before last years expo so I have included it in the last 12 months worth of builds. Hope you like them and I hope to bring 3-4 of them to Melbourne with me should rostering allow. Apart from civil aircraft, pretty well every genre is catered for and reflects my varied taste. All are in Gentlemen's scale, apart form the stick grip which is 1:1.
First up was the Hawk, finished in late May, 2013. A challenging kit to depict with all the stuff hanging off the wings and fuselage as all had to be scratchbuilt including the pylons. Was reasonably successful on the show circuit.

The Sea Venom was a souvenier from the Swap and Smell, basically every year that I have been to expo, I have purchased a cheap kit that you don't see built too often and tried to build it mostly out of the box (a method that I have trouble complying to)

I had a dream that I could produce a 1:1 scale copy of a real Mirage stick in resin, so I went out and found a real one and made a copy of it and made my own `kit'.

The Mirage took everything I could throw at it and was the kit that I learnt the most from as far as scratchbuilding, moulding and casting parts etc. I only used 11 parts from the kit to make this one.

Next was the Flying pancake. All resin and white metal, I enjoyed this build immensely and it was my first use of woodgrain decal (for the props)

The Tiger moth was another of the neglected kits that I chose, mainly due to a bit of family history with the airframe that I depicted. Old Matchbox kits are heaps of fun to build!

The Sopwith Triplane was my most recent build and this one was kicking around almost finished for a long time and I got sick of moving out of the way and spent a few days to complete it.
