3D printing anyone?

Postby Cap'n Wannabe » Fri Jun 23, 2017 9:31 am

I just ordered one of these and 400 metres of filament to go with it..

I already have a few things to do with it, like baffles, prop, control yokes, parcel shelf, etc. for my 1/20 Aero Subaru!

Be very interesting to hear about your experience with this mate. It's something I do want to play around with when I get the time.

Yeah, right after you get current!

But seriously.....it arrives in about 2 weeks, then I'll have to assemble it, and probably calibrate it. Shouldn't have too much trouble designing bits for it - it's what I've been doing for the last 22 years anyhow! I think the trick will be how to arrange them to print.

I'll take a set of CH-47C sand filters when you're offering. :)

I'm looking forward to following this thread. 3D printing has the potential to revolutionize modelling and I'm sure it won't be too long before people will be selling programs for people to use on their 3D printers in the way that there are detailing sets and conversion parts available now. I've looked at the process a couple of times but came to the conclusion that learning to use this new technology was going to take up a lot of modelling time to master, so i'll leave it to others who are more tech inclined. So, I'm looking forward to reading how you go.

Maybe you could ask Tony for his plans and do this as a simple starter
