Can anyone tell me what this Lancastrian was doing at Biggs Army Airfield, El Paso, Texas, in 1947? Registration is believed to be VH-EAS.

BOAC sold the aircraft to Qantas in July 1947, so I'd say it's a transit stop from the UK to Australia.

Sounds reasonable.....she still hasn't received her Qantas titles.

I'd have thought she'd have gone the other way around.

No. EAS only lasted 2 years - it was destroyed in a landing accident at Dubbo in April 1949.

EAU served the longest (WFU in 1952), so that was probably used as the engine lugger in its later years.
