Hi guys,
Being a former RAAF "tanker wanker" I find the subject of air-to-air refuelling always fascinating. To that end here are two very interesting air refuelling pics I have recently come across.
The first pic is a P-3 moving in behind a KC-135. This is a proximity/stability compatibility trial and was apparently undertaken at the request of a then friendly Iranian government who reportedly wanted their P-3Fs, on order at the time, to be air-to-air refuelable, (why this extended range capability for IIAF P-3Fs was required within the confines of the Persian Gulf is anyone's guess). Whilst never formally confirmed, the Iranian fleet of P-3Fs apparently all received this capability, (as well as some US "black ops" P-3s).
This second shot shows something that would be unheard in modern times.....a USAF aircraft being refuelled by an Iranian Air Force 707 Tanker .
Thinking of doing this as a diorama.
