Catalina quasi-civil and real civil schemes

Postby erussell » Thu Dec 17, 2015 4:46 pm

there are some quasi-civilian and some real civilian schemes (thanks to my influence) in the latest DK Decals Catalina sheet. they are arriving at Red Roo (Australian disributors) in new year. Join our mailing list for a heads-up when they do go on sale.

Just on Guba NC777, I built this one a while back and spent hours of research on it, based on the first photo where the locals are walking on the wing loading specimens into the aircraft

I thought that the wing was not entirely yellow, then I found the San Diego museum pictures,

it sealed it for me I painted her like so.

but if you look closely I STILL GOT IT WRONG! the dark painted panel shape is wrong and so is the leading edge off!
both models Kono (Archbold 2nd expedition), and Guba 3rd expedition are with QAM.

Wally, I think it is just the curse of we anal modellers to just screw up some minor detail that will plague us for the rest of our lives - WTF is wrong with us? Why is it also impossible for me to build something OOB? They are beauties and you must be pretty chuffed to have them at QAM!

Cheers
