Anyone who is a modeller will know of Shep Paine. Master of figures, dioramas, etc. among other builds.
He unfortunately suffered a massive stroke recently and remains hospitalised in a critical condition. For anyone interested, a tribute page had been established, which includes a few images of his masterful work.

Sad news...I loved poring over his pamphlets in the old Monogram kits. Hope he pulls through.

Very sad news indeed, his dioramas are works of art and an inspiration to all modellers.
As Damo mentioned, I hope he pulls through OK, he has a long hard fight ahead of him.
Wayne.

Just read over at ARC that Shep has passed away. When the link said he'd been moved to the hospice area I thought he didn't have too much longer here on earth. The hospice is normally the last stop in this earthly life.
RIP Shep. You've been an inspiration to many of us in the modelling hobby.
Regards,
RHB.

Shep has indeed left us. An innovator and true pioneer. He will be missed.

His name didn't immediately come to mind, but I do recall seeing his brilliant and inspiring work in the past. I've now refreshed myself on his extraordinary modelling skills and it is indeed a sad loss to the modelling community at large. My thoughts go out to his nearest and dearest. Hopefully his work (or at least some of it) may one day go on display to the public. It would be sad to loose this unique kind of storytelling that this man was able to achieve with his brilliant modelling skills.

I'm gonna dig out the diorama leaflet out of my Monogram 1/48 B-17 and look after it a bit better now. To tell you the truth I didn't really who this guy was but I had seen his work and was in awe of it. The modelling world has lost a great mentor

A truly inspirational modeler, will be missed
On the depressing side he was the same age as me
