A free kit? Well that would solve it really cheaply! But you do know the Airfix kit you have was altered to a Gunship and the later Airfix Hercules releases were the Italaeri kit don't you?

The Conversion sets are :

DB

and I forgot Flightpath (which may or may not be identical to DB - someone else may be able to tell you if it is or not) :

Hope this helps.

P.S. Thanks for all the great photos! You are obviously having a great time over there.

I was, till now! pretty sure this boxing contains the original c130 mold prior to the ac130 conversion.. i certainly hope so.. how can you tell by looking at the sprue?
thanks for your input mate, and I am more than happy to share my photos with anyone else who loves aircraft!

Yes that boxing is definitely an original.

According to Scalemates :

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/192742- ... 1-hercules

the MPC kit was the last "original" Airfix Herc before it was modified into the Gunship in 1985 and this was last issued in 2002.

The Italaeri kit was first issued as an Airfix kit in 1994 and last issued as an Airfix kit in 2001.

A friend of mine picked me up the Academy MiG 29 in 1/48 from Sprue Finders at the recent swap and sell.

Finally found myself with some spending money... I have all the Boeings so now I'm working on Airbus. Also picked up another Tristar because it was very inexpensive! Such a glorious aircraft... It was the "Cadillac" to the DC-10's "Oldsmobile." :) ;) Not that the DC-10 isn't very cool, though! :P

After a few months of thinking about it, I finally ordered this on Thursday and it arrived Friday. I'm thinking an TAA scheme maybe. I just like the look of the engines and the long fuselage.

Just would like to see you in the Airfix 737-200 Challenge build instead of fixing up that old clunker.

This Article by Jodie Peeler might help you improve the Airfix 727-200 :

https://www.airline-hobby-estore.com/pr ... amv044.htm

(maybe I shouldn't have given that link to you as you might spend more time fixing it up that could be spent on a Challenge Build kit!)
