Thanks for that Ansett330. I knew about Eddington's Great Business Plan but not the A320 and A330 proposal which would have been very smart. Not something the Ansett Board was very good at. I don't see an Ansett A330 in my future, I have five Revell kits in my Treasure and they are already allocated - Virgin Australia, Qantas Citylink, RAAF, Qantas and Hong Kong Aircargo to give me a freighter.

What if a sixth A330 (and even Ansett 767 decals) magically appeared in your “Treasure”?

Old AFR Article here has some info but not all :

The A340 replacing international 743/744 bit is interesting too.

Well that’s strange. I was able to read it yesterday but you are right can’t read it today. I should have CaPed it.

Basically hinted that excess A340s after the Asian crisis could be bought cheaply or leased to be used on international routes.

Also it was to be A330-200’s on domestic routes meaning the appropriate modifications to the Revell kit. Although it was also mentioned the possibility of leasing various aircraft types from Star partners who had excess or parked up aircraft which obviously eventually (far too late) did happen with the ex Air Canada B763s.

No Australian operator was really interested in the A340 200/300 basically, because it was a slug!!!.....if it wasn't for the curvature of the earth, a fully-loaded and heavy A340 300 would barely get into the air, especially on a hot day.
The A340 500/600 on the other hand, was an entirely different animal, but was simply too late into the market for its own good.

I've discovered that I've lost my KC-30 decals so I can't make that one. So unless somebody can sell me the necessary decals this leaves me with a spare A330 which I could make as an Ansett A.330. Any suggestions about what might be the best Ansett decal set to get that might fit. If it should be an A.330-200 I will need a new tail, anyone got one to spare?
