Well, so far it looks like the 1:144 707 is the front-runner for our 2nd Challenge Build.
I forgot to mention.....this Challenge Build will commence when the current one finishes, (Model Expo weekend 2019).

I'm gonna launch a protest on the grounds that you omitted the Aurora 707 from the list..
Pretending to do it TAC style with the big boys since 1987

Not 1:144 unfortunately.....bugger :D
I am gunna launch protest on the grounds that the HORRID Aurora 707 kit was ever allowed to see the light of day. Someone should have been arrested for that abomination and crime against humanity.

This is harder to pick than a broken nose. (Or the Leader of a Political Party!)

How do each compare on price and availability?

Given that the 737s have changed hands from $15 to $20 if the next kit is $30 to $40 then logically unless everyone is made of money (or obviously has a pile of the particular kit) there will be less entries and hence possibly less interest?

Rob,
Enough mate. At the risk of being blunt, I am not interested in where the individual sources their kit from, or how much they pay. If you want to be involved vote for one of the four types mentoined.
This thread is not a commentary or debate, it is a vote....simple as that.

My vote is entirely personal. I've made as many 707s as I want to make and I disenjoyed the Minicraft kits enough that I wouldn't enjoy doing it again. Besides, you have to get new engines to make a halfway decent Minicraft 707, which escalates the cost quite a bit. Is it possible to make a -338 using the Airfix kit? (I don't think so.) I'm planning to make some DC-8s and if you want to make a -60 or -70 series what comes in the box is quite adequate. On the other hand, I'm quite attracted to making some VC-10s to Then again, I'd like to challenge myself to make a DCA HS-125.

I just had a look at what is currently available on ebay. There are almost no DC-8s and the handful there are not cheap. There are no HS-125s. There are a few Airfix 707s at reasonable prices but they are the Airfix ones with (as I recall) Conway engines which limits decal options. There are a lot of the new Roden VC-10 at reasonable prices so I'd suggest that, except that there are not so many livery choices. The other option might be the Revell A.320. There seem to be a few kits available at reasonable prices and the decal options seem endless.

After all that, I vote for the VC-10 on the basis of cost and availability (and the quality of the kit)

By the way, TOR, my comments just above were not a debate but my rationale for voting for VC-10 (and hopefully an encouragement for others to agree with me - apart from the fact I just completed the Il-62 and would like a VC-10 to put next to it).
