Royal Thai Air Force A340-541

Postby RayS » Tue Aug 08, 2017 1:52 pm

I just watched a lovely sight landing at Canberra Airport (it's nice to have a window seat next to the southern approach path!)

I know Siam decals do a few RTAF VIP subjects but I now must find some for this one. Are there any decals around for this? it was delivered tot eh RTAF in April last year.

That is a kick arse-looking Airbus!!!!. I love that scheme.
Maybe Richard. W in the UK can knock up some custom decals for her, (I know I would be up for a set or two).
What kit would you use??

I have a Braz A340-600 conversion for an Etihad -600 that I wanted to build. But I can't get the decals for it. I would have to chop down the -600 fuselage to make it a -500 though, along with a Revell A330 or 340 of course.

Apparently the A340-500 is over-powered to buggery......sort of like the SP of the A340 world.

Unlike the -300 which was underpowered to the same degree :)

It's here for the Thais' latest grog run. Gonna need all that power to haul the 5 packed pallets worth back home.

I was dispatching a Dash 8 when it landed - awesome sight from the ramp :o - I just couldn't get my phone's camera on quick enough for a pic.

Almost "SNAP" as Graeme and I were only discussing -500s and -600s over the phone on Monday night.

Be interesting to see what he has to say about the -500 ...

Plenty of images on the Canberra Plane Spotters Facebook page. Seems half of the lurking spotting community were out and about when it landed..

hmmm.. nice shot

Could part of that possibly be due to if you only glance at it or look at it from a distance it looks like a CFM56 powered 707?
