Modelo Expo 2016....the A/CAM experience

Postby tor lives » Sat Jun 11, 2016 10:13 pm

Hi folks,
Well day 1 of model Expo has come and gone and what a big day it was.
The annual A/CAM membership luncheon was held with lots of catch-ups and laughs, (and if you haven't yet got your "freebie" meal voucher, hunt me down tomorrow as I don't want any A/CAM members missing out).
You were missed Paul....but you were there in spirit as many "Paul our favourite LAME" anecdotes were shared, (and the security guys just seemed lost and miserable without you around :D ).

Both A/CAM-sponsored Model Expo competition categories were well supported this year with some simply superb models in each (and good luck to those that have entered....may there be lots of silverware coming your way). Here is the Civil (aka as non-military), Category:

And the Airliner Category:

Now folks, to say that I am overwhelmed and blown away by the level of support for our Ansett 80th Anniversary display is an absolute understatement. I can't believe how many Ansett models actually ended up being on the table, (and nor can anyone else  ), so to all those who contributed..... please accept a warm and heart-felt thanks from me. You have all ensured that our display this year is an absolute success. I have received much positive feedback about our display today, (including from our all-important sponsors), and this would not have been possible had you guys not got behind me and A/CAM. THANK YOU!!!!

Great day yesterday - great catching up with all the A/CAM'ers and a few others. Thanks very much Ray for lunch - very much appreciated mate! I was blown away by the A/CAM Ansett table. Ol' Reg (wherever he may be out there in the ether) would be smiling I reckon. Our fav LAME sadly missing in action up north. Not to worry Paul, Damo filled up his car with those super rare, super cheap (where they really only $5?) only ever to be sold at Expo 2016 Phantom kits. Damo did tell me he could part with a couple of these super rare Phantom kits once he applies his "special" profit margin just for you!

See you all on Monday!

Cracker effort there boys. What an awesome display. Old Reg would've loved it I'm sure. Just wish I was there to participate fully. Mind you, I'll have to have a chat with my security mate cos there's some dodgy looking characters in them pics. Great to see the civvie category going very well. It's very pleasing to see considering all the efforts of those involved getting the category up and running. As for Damo buying Phantoms, it's about time he bought a decent aircraft for a change. And for anyone that's seen the F-4 stash, they'd probably say I have got too many anyway. Obviously they know nothing and have no idea you can never have enough F-4's 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
Head A/CAM Phantom Phanatic, Shit Stirrer and Karma Bus Driver toot fkn toot

Great photos, Ray! And my apologies for missing the lunch, but thanks so much for the voucher! I did eventually put it to good use. I spent most of the afternoon in the company of Neil Yan from HK Models, and missed just about everything else!
