MAFF I think they're called. Can't remember what it stands for but apparently they work well in the States

The system deployed on the C-130, (and indeed trialed on C-17s as well), is known as MAFF.
The aircraft when in the airborne fire fighting role is known as a LAT (Large Air Tanker), by virtue of weight/category/dispensible load.
36SQN trialed the system on RAAF C-130Hs many years ago....and while considered opeartionally successful, alas the system was not adopted for local use.

This is the MAFFS II system where the retardant is dispensed from a modified door as opposed to out the back.

So I figured scratch building the pipe out the door would be easier to do. Though I have seen pictures of the full setup going in the backend of a C-130.

Decal sheet arrived, very nice. Time to break out a kit and start some scratch building of the retardant nozzle.
