another zero....i might just have a problem

i thought i'd try a little weathering...so i dived into the stash and pulled out an old hasegawa A6M3.model 32..also known as a hamp.
so with a little preshading with tamiya black ink and useing the gunze IJNAF grey rather than the more correct xf76 tamiya colour i hoped to achieve a lightly weathered and faded look.




i think i did ok for a first time attempt

the head on is the new hamp and the finemolds A6M2 i built a couple of months ago...showing the difference in finish.....i'm pretty happy


and to prove i have a problem......5 zero's this year!!!!

from 1 o'clock in clock wise fashion
finemolds A6M2
tamiya A6M2
old hasegawa A6M3 model 32
new airfix A6M2
and center Hasegawa A6M8...
been a big 4 months so far .......might just do something shiny next

PS: it just occurred to me that I am spending way to much time down here in "The Air Base" admiring all these great military aviation models....people will start to think I have turned to the "dark side" of modelling at this rate

I couldn't agree more Brendon.
Iroinically I just picked up a few new-release 1:72 Airfix kits today, including a beautifuly-cast Spitfire F Mk.22 which will eventually be done as the stunningly beautiful all-red civvie Spitty "G-FIRE". Also grabbed a few P-51Ds for some future "Reno Racer" projects.
