1/48 Heller Mirage IIID

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

1/48 Heller Mirage IIID

I have been working on this one for the Mirage Group Build over on BritModeller.

It is the 1/48 Heller Mirage IIIB/C kit with Red Roo Mirage IIID conversion.

In my usual way, I can't build OOB theses days and have had the idea of displaying it this way since I sourced the kit and conversion 10 years ago. Now the Kinetic kit is out it was time to build this.

It will be finished as A3-111 using Caracal decals

Love it Ray. It's wicked how you've got the gear going up. I have a single and 2 seater to do with the Heller some day.

Trivia Time :
I sold Gary a 1/48 Heller Mirage IIIB/C kit sans canopy back in 1998 when he wanted a Heller kit to make his Conversion.

Liking this a lot RayS! The gear coming up stance just looks so cool - very dynamic and best of both worlds.

And it is done.

17 December 1986 is a day I will never forget, I got to fly faster than the speed of sound in a really cool jet :D

And almost 30 years later I have a model of the jet I flew in. Here are the pictures...

Very nice modelling and arranging Ray and it's funny you mention the timeframe as I just found the Matchbox kit that I started back then to heavily modify their B (as it was hugely inaccurate as a B because they based it on their C) into a D. Strange thing is nowadays I can't find any reviews saying that their B was hugely inaccurate. Sadly no one would care now anyway with the HPM kits being available even though they are not exactly in the pocket money range like Matchbox kits were.
