Having acquired a couple of 1/35 half tracks but having no armour experience whatsoever I thought I'd better get some and so I'm starting off simple. This is the Tamiya 1/35 Kubelwagen Type 82. It'll be done as a captured one by 3Sqn RAAF. I've added some Eduard PE even though I really only wanted the masks for the windscreen. I've got a fair way through this which is surprising. Apparently target, I mean armour modellers build almost everything first, paint it all black, colour on top and then detail painting. My OCD's had all sorts of dramas with this and it took a while to figure out how it was all gonna come together. I've left the chassis and body seperate at the moment so could detail paint stuff before they go together. It's worked out really well so far. I'll be adding AM resin wheels as the kit ones are wrong for a 3 Sqn vehicle. Most of the building is done for the moment with a bit of weathering to be done before the chassis meets the body. Once they've come together I'll attempt to freehand the camo without screwing it up totally. Anyway here's some progress pics
I made the PE jerrycan holders
Then I dropped and trod on one Managed to rescue it though
I thought I'd preshade it like a plane
Chassis and body together temporarily
After getting the OCD's in check, I painted it all black
Colour added
Having a ball with this. I'm really happy how it's turned out so far. My Abrams M1A1 will be the next aromur kit to do. And I'll have to get another M113 after seeing the camo one at the RSL on Phillip Is
