Just a little something I have been working on...

Postby DesTROYer » Thu Oct 06, 2016 7:45 pm

For the last month I have been working on this little beauty. I hope to have it finished for the Wings model show in a few weeks, but with Bathurst this weekend and a Wedding the next, that may prove to be impossible. I don't want to rush it. It's the Tamiya 1/32 F-4E Phantom II. Of course it's going to be a RAAF bird. No. 8.

After a few nights of it either being to cold in the garage, not feeling well or dinner at the folks house, I've finally got in an laid down a few coats of Future. I should be ready to start applying some decals tomorrow night and Saturday.

Been following your build elsewhere Troy. It has come along really well.

I'd say it is you best build yet! Love a Phantom in a nice SEA scheme.

Can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks Ray. I must admit though that Tamiya have made an awesome kit and 1/32 is a whole lot easier for my fat fingers to deal with than 1/48 or 1/72. Still I don't know how many more 1/32 kits I have the space for, So I'll stick with 1/48 for the most part.

Great "Man size" modelling there Troy! What paints have you used out of interest? How did the kit do together? I have the F-4J kit to build - one day.

The main four colours were Tamiya rattle cans that I decanted so I could airbrush them on. 5$3 cockpit is painted with lifecolour with a airbrush a hairy stick and Edward colour photoetch. The kit goes together really well and only needed minimum filler. Getting the cockpit finished was the only real hold up to construction, but that's not unusual.

It's not yet finished, as I still have the centreline tank to assemble, paint and fit and I have some RBF tags to put on, but its completed enough for this weekends model show and I have to follow the doctors orders too.

Well done Troy - great work and great inspiration - for me in particular, as I'm struggling to find time for any modelling at the moment. The "Double Ugly" sure looks the business! Hopefully I'll get down to MB to see it.

Hell, a very nice piece of art you have turned out there Troy. I'm jealous. I think I'll take up marbles and consign my feeble efforts to the bin.
I'm struggling at present to even finish my new shed let alone a model, does a half built Achzarit and a dozen other half aircraft builds qualify?
