Kitty Hawk 1/48 F-35A Lightning II RAAF A35-001

Not my best work. After masking it all up, I stuffed up by spraying the wrong colour and instead of remarking it all up, I repainted the raised detail by hand, but It will look ok in the cabinet. I present to you all my RAAF F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter A35-001.

Well done Troy! You have the distinction of being the first to build and post a F-35A here are A/CAM I believe! This is without a doubt the biggest fighter program ever - love it or hate it, the F-35 is very controversial! Huge strides are happening as we know Troy with this program. This recent test where a F-35 acted as a over the horizon "sensor" for a Aegis system is mind blowing.

OUTRAGEOUS COMMENT ALERT! Hmm, can I ban the owner from his own site?

I do have to agree that from some angles, it doesn't look the best, but from others, to me at least it looks shit hot. Just promise me this Ray, keep an open mind until you see (and hear) one at Avalon at some point in the future. One member here will never change his mind I know. I'm just sayin' the more I read about this bird the more blown away by it I am. It's kicking goals in testing and exercises that just has never been achieved before. Words like "Velociraptor" and "invisible Mohammad Ali" have been used to describe it. There's a whole bunch of new "Apps" coming for the F-35 as well - more advanced warheads to place on foreheads. Hornet was a major increase in capability back in the 80's. F-35 is a leap out of the stadium! You'll see.

I have no doubt that the F-35 will redefine air warfare moving foward, and in time there will only be two types of Air Forces......those with F-35s and those who will be no more than F-35 target practise. The problem is however I have an eye for aerodynamic ascetic beauty, (eg Concorde, Gulfstream, 707, VC-10 etc), and the F-35 is , well, ugly :? . I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the F-35 is more "Helen Clark" then "Jen Hawkins".

Perhaps it's a morph of Jen Hawkins upper and Helen Clark lower? Did I just type that? OK - I'm off to whip myself with a wet tea bag! Betcha 99.9% of the critics disappear once the F-35 arrives here. The few remaining diehards will never go away, just like the "Save Albert Park" mob. Still, as this program will most likely outlast us all, it's a long time to be pissed off with something that they have no true idea about.
