AA-4002 Soviet era airraft

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

AA-4002 Soviet era airraft

Having been on the sick list for the past few weeks I decided that I'd prefer to make something simple and easy rather than make a mess of my 707s (which are already quite mess enough). 'Something unusual looking', I thought, and the Bounder came to mind. Hunting around in my Treasure I finally found the Anigrand kit which, as you will know, comes with an additional three little kits in addition to the main subject. In a moment of weakness I decided that I would make all four kits. What was I thinking? 'Simple and easy'! Hahahahaha (hysterical laughter).

Here's the result of my folly:

Individually:
First the big one, the Myasishchev Bounder

The Lavochkin La-250A

The Sukhoi Su-25 Flagon-B

And the MiG Ye-152A Flogger

Just to give you an idea of scale, here's the Bounder and a Boeing 720. I know which one I'd rather fly in, and which one I'd feel safer in.

Sadly, I've not got over this folly and the project currently on my table is the Anigrand Bison, plus it's three little companions. Hahahahaha (more hysterical laughter).

On the sick list and you are pumping out those beauties - not bad at all I say sir!

Intriguing is Russian aerospace designs - arrive at similar solutions from a entirely different directions it seems. Always been a fan of Sukhoi designs - the look primarily. I also find it fascinating how the West has so over-stated the performance of Russian equipment - engine technology in particular. The low hour-throw away strategy with engines in particular was OK in the old days with simple aircraft, but it has cursed them in recent times. Boosting core temps & pressures can only go so far. I'd love to visit the Monino museum outside Moscow one day.

Wow, they're great. I can see an influence in the Commercial jets in the Thunderbirds in these old Russian warbirds. Nice work.

You shouldn't show me pictures like that Adam. The Anigrand Bison is coming along nicely but, wait, what is that I see behind it. A Bear? Must make one of those now. Bugger!
