it has been many years since I have built a WW2 prop, I have a few languishing in the stash so I thought it was time for one..in this case Hasegawa 1/48 Finnish P-40M boxing.

After looking at these pics I see a few things that need fixing..the tyres need grubbying up and a section of canopy framing needs to be filled in on the port side.

This was quite a refreshing build, nice to finish something trouble free within a week.

I'm a big fan of the P-40 - something about its brutish looks and the fact this it has been a bit of a "unsung hero". Now, to become a mega-squillionaire so I can buy a 1:1 scale version (in my dreams!).

the airframe was an unfortunate one that was involved in many bingles. In it's penultimate prang both wings were damaged beyond repair and replacement (painted) ones were attached, the aircraft was then sent to the squadron assigned to "training" tasks only such was it's poor state... I was drawn to this scheme because of it's oddness avoiding boring old silver and boring old camo!

A really nice P-40 you've built there Wal, and in a scheme rarely seen. I like it heaps.
After much consideration (about 2 seconds) I think you should keep building more military things with wings.
Hasegawa do make a nice P-40 you must admit. I'm stalled on their 1/32 kit because I want to find some decent 1/32 Milne Bay decals for it.

I find I am only able to do a reasonable job with things that I have a reasonable amount of passion with, prepared to do the hard yards if necessary. If a subject isn't that dear to me the kit must be shake and bake for me to get any pleasure out of it..this is what happens when no passion, not shake and bake and a "just get it out of my life" attitude takes hold over a build:
I picked up the half finished basic build yesterday and finished it in a day, not giving a rats about authenticity of markings paints and colours (using left over dregs), no frigging masking (except the canopy) thus in someway getting some small measure of enjoyment out of an otherwise Bleccccch experience.. I am not keeping it, it is going to the kid down the road, I know he will enjoy it.




Now I have to divest my stash of stuff I can't be bothered with

That Sukhoi looks great for a quick day job for the kid down the road. You never know, if he's not already a modeller it may help kick start a hobby he may not have thought about.
I've lost count of the boxes of models I've given away to kids. I think another load may be going soon as well, their sharing a container with probably a heap of arachnid pilots of all descriptions.
