A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

Thanks boys. Didn't get anything done on this today but all systems go tomorrow. Ray I won't be dropping the flaps on this one. I'd like to but remember I said some of the ideas I had were beyond my skills? Well that's one of them on this kit unfortunately right there

Benn working on this beasty the last couple of days. I've finished all the vents and NACA ducts and they look ok. There's a little vane looking thing moulded on the LH side of the nose that looked too fat so using an antenna from a 1/72 Skyhawk PE set I made one. It looks pretty good compared to the plasic one that was there. I've taken it back off so I don't squash it during the build. I also finally got the Avionix resin pit sorted. That was a bit more work that I was anticipating but then again it is only the second resin pit I've ever used. I've stuck the sidewalls on and have spent quite a lot of time getting the IP/combing to fit and sit right. It's getting there slowly and I should be able to start painting the pit tomorrow. Some pics for ya :)

Awesome stuff Paul. I like what I see already and can't wait to see what else you can do with it.

Nice work Paul,

after seeing what you have done with the pit and vents dropping the flaps would be a piece of cake for you...

All I did was cut out the flaps, thin them down by sanding the tops and cut new pieces of card to fill the cut out in the top of the wing.

Outstanding work so far man! The ol' Dremel is the "go to" tool for fitting AM resin stuff isn't it. It's the natural enemy of styrene!

Done a bit more on this thing. I started painting the side panels and the IP the last couple of days. I also added the elevator trim wheel to the L/H side panel that was missing. I've yet to add the throttle lever but I'm leaving this off till I've finished the detail painting. I wish I had of ordered some Airscale decals for the instrumants but I CBF'd waiting so they'll be painted this time. They look rough close up in the pics but they should be ok once the IP and pit are all installed. I'll get some for the 1/32 TA-4J that's winging it's way to me as we speak. ANyways onto a couple of pics :)

More work on this today. The detail painting continues with a few additions. I added a bit of wiring to the instrument combing. I couldn't find a clear pic of this area so the artitic licence came out. On the LH side of the seat there was supposed to be a small handle but I think it got busted off in the bag of resin. So I made one from stretched sprue and superglue for the knob on the end. There were a couple of brackets and wiring looms missing from the sides of the seat. So some fine wire, brass tube and job done. I also replaced what looks like a cable from the ejection handle on the RH side of the seat wire fine wire. The seat only needs the belts painted, clear coat, wash and flat clear and it's done. It's getting there slowly.
