Ansett Sandringham "Beachcomber"

A while back I built one of these in the final scheme for a friend of mine.. I was reluctant to let it go as I think it is quite a handsome aircraft and makes a great model, I convinced myself I needed one of my own and about 4 years later finally built it.

I have reached the stage on it where I just don't want to do any more on it in case I bugger it all up. I will wait until my emotion subsides before dirtying it up and flat coating it, so she is done for now and rests splendidly in my cabinet.

Very nice Wally, another work of art from your bench.
I would love to see these flying again, it brings back some old memories.

Cheers
Wayne.

Very nice Wally, this was an Airfix kit you started with?

The rigging on the floats looks great, what did you use?

hi and thanks Ray, yep it's Airfix, de-rivetted (and wings only scribed.. I can only stand so much of that nonsense.. to enhance that patchwork look when I eventual apply a weathering and toning down wash..that is the theory anyway)
Ezy line rigging..bought from Red Roo,,,took bloody hours!

Awesome work there "Prof of Plastic"! I have to digitise some slides taken by my father back in the mid-60's, as I have a couple showing Sandringham's anchored in Rose Bay? I was a wee little nipper @ 2 y.o back then. The Commando looks awesome so far as well. Is that a new technique you're trying blending different Alclads to show some tarnish? It looks great!

Cheers
